GeoAI Project Presented During Visit to TUM and DLR

Munich, May 2026

Members of the project team from the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, University of Ljubljana (UL FGG) organized an excursion to Munich in May for young researchers and final-year master’s students. At the Technical University of Munich (TUM), we were received by the Department of Geodesy at the School of Engineering and Design. The visit was intended, among other things, to exchange information about current research with the aim of strengthening collaboration, particularly in the fields of GeoAI and advanced spatial modeling.

This was followed by a series of visits aimed at familiarizing ourselves with modern technologies for mass spatial data acquisition and Earth observation, as well as strengthening collaboration. At OHB, a company that works closely with the German space agency, they presented the process of developing and testing components for Earth observation satellites, and also specifically presented examples of using data from selected satellites for Earth observation purposes. A very rich program was subsequently offered by our hosts at the German space agency DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt), where we were welcomed upon arrival by our compatriot, Dr. Irena Hajnsek.
